These are the terms you’re agreeing to when you buy a card from us. We’ve written them in plain English because terms nobody reads protect nobody. If something here doesn’t make sense, email pokebeansar@gmail.com and ask before you buy.
Pokebeans is Marlon and Carlos, selling Pokémon and sports cards out of Northwest Arkansas. We ship within the United States only.
How we describe cards
We condition cards. We don’t grade them. This is the single most important thing on this page.
Grading is what PSA, BGS and CGC do: a third party seals a card in a case with a number on it. Conditioning is us looking at a raw card and writing down plainly what shape it’s in. When a listing says “Near Mint”, that is our assessment, not a grade, and it carries no guarantee that any grading company would agree with us.
We follow the TCGplayer Card Conditioning Standards closely, and use common-sense judgment where that guide runs out. Every flaw we find goes in the description. When we’re not sure whether something will bother you, we say so.
If a card is already graded, the number on the slab is the grading company’s opinion, not ours. In that case our condition notes describe the case, not the card inside it.
Cards are physical objects that have been handled, sometimes for decades. Two people can look at the same edge and describe it differently. If our description and your expectation don’t match when the card arrives, that’s what the return window is for, and we’d genuinely rather you use it than keep something you’re unhappy with.
Images
Every card in the Display Case gets front and back images of the actual card you’ll receive. We don’t use stock photos or images of a different copy of the same card.
Screens vary. Colour, gloss and foil shift depending on your display and the light we shot in. We do our best to photograph honestly rather than flatteringly.
Prices
Prices are in US dollars and are set from current market rates for that card in that condition. They don’t include shipping, which is calculated at checkout.
Before you buy, ask. Some cards are genuinely hard to price — small print runs, other languages, conditions that sit between two descriptions, cards that barely trade often enough to have a market rate worth the name. If you think a price is off, say so and tell us what you’re seeing. If you’re taking more than one, say that too. We’d rather talk about it than watch a card sit.
Once you’ve bought, the price is final. We don’t adjust a completed sale because the market moved afterwards, and we don’t ask you for more if it moves the other way. Card values move constantly in both directions; if we re-opened settled sales every time they did, nobody would know where they stood.
We may change a price at any time before an order is placed. A price change never applies to an order we’ve already accepted.
The one exception is an obvious listing error — a decimal in the wrong place, or a card listed at the price of a different one. That isn’t a market price, it’s a typo, and we won’t treat it as binding on either of us. If it happens after you’ve ordered we’ll contact you, explain it, and give you the choice: pay the corrected price, or cancel for a full refund. We’ll never charge you more than you agreed to without asking first.
Ordering and availability
Your order is an offer to buy. It’s accepted when we confirm it, and a card isn’t yours until then.
Our inventory also sells in person and at shows. Occasionally a card sells in the room before an online order for it has shipped. When that happens we refund you immediately and let you know. Refunds are issued right away; your bank may take a few days to post it. Payment processing fees are generally not returned to us on refunds, which is our problem and not yours.
This is more likely on a show weekend, and the site says so at the top of the page when we’re at one.
Holds
If we agree to hold a card for you — at a show, by message, or by email — the hold lasts 24 hours. If payment isn’t made within that window, the card goes back up for sale. We’ll usually chase you before that happens, but we can’t promise to.
At a show, asking about a card is not a hold. In-person buyers get priority, requests are handled first come first served after the show day ends, and it’s one card per person unless we say otherwise. We’d rather be blunt about that than have you assume something was set aside when it wasn’t.
Payment
When you pay online, payment is handled by our payment processor on their own systems. We never see or store your full card details. Your order ships once payment clears.
For local pickup you can pay online in advance or pay when you collect. Both are fine.
Shipping
We ship within the United States only. Orders go out within 2 business days, usually faster, except during a show weekend. Orders over $200 ship insured and require a signature.
The full detail — packaging, tracking, insurance, local pickup — is on our Shipping & Returns page, and it forms part of these terms.
Once a parcel is with the carrier it’s in their hands. We’ll help you chase a lost or delayed package and we’ll take it seriously, but we don’t control how fast they move.
Returns
10 days from delivery, for any reason. You don’t have to justify it. We pay the return shipping, there’s no restocking fee, and the refund is the full amount you paid.
Send the card back in the sleeve and toploader it arrived in so it survives the trip. We can’t refund a card that comes back damaged in a way it wasn’t when it left us.
Refunds go out the day the card gets back to us. Full detail is on the Shipping & Returns page.
Trades
We trade in person only. Cards get inspected by both people, in the same room, before anything changes hands. We don’t ship first and trust it works out, and we don’t ask you to either.
Who can buy
Purchases, trades, and collection submissions must be made by someone aged 18 or older, or with a parent or guardian present. If it turns out we’re dealing with a minor without a guardian involved, we’ll stop and sort it out with an adult.
Cancelling
You can cancel any order that hasn’t shipped yet — just email us. Once it’s shipped, use the return window instead.
We can cancel if a card turns out to be already sold, if we find damage we’d missed, if the price was wrong, or if we can’t complete the order for a reason we’ll explain. You get a full refund in every case. We won’t cancel an order because we’d rather sell the card to someone else for more.
What we’re responsible for
We’re responsible for sending you the card described, packed properly, within the time we’ve stated, and for putting it right if we don’t.
We’re not responsible for what a card turns out to be worth later, for whether a grading company agrees with our assessment, or for anything that happens to a card after it’s safely in your hands. Card values move. That’s the hobby, and it cuts both ways.
Not affiliated
Pokebeans is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to Nintendo, Game Freak, Creatures Inc., or The Pokémon Company. All card names, set names and images are the property of their respective owners. We’re a shop that resells cards, nothing more.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The version that applies to your order is the one published when you placed it. If we change something that actually matters, we’ll say so on the site rather than quietly editing this page.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Arkansas, United States.
